Evil Genius

I am really looking forward to reading The Diviners by Libba Bray, but I am trying to convince myself that I don't need to buy the book.  Then I looked up the Kindle price on Amazon, because, how bad can it be.  That's when I discovered this:

Seriously!  Eleven free chapters!  How could I not say yes?!  You know what this means, right?  I've been reading my free chapters this weekend and now I'm dying to know what happens next.  Actually, I've only read a couple chapters since I'm also reading Dead End in Norvelt too.  But it's only a matter of time.

I think I spent about $70 on Amazon last month.  On myself alone.  That does not count the new Bible that I bought for Doug.  If we count that, then the total almost doubles.  So, you can understand why I'm hesitating to buy another Kindle book, especially when there is such thing as inter-library loan in this world.  That is the path that I have chosen to take.  I have just placed The Diviners on hold at my local library.

I'm hoping that my hold comes in quickly but until then I have my eleven chapters, but from what I've read so far, this is an incredible book.  I know I say that a lot, but I don't like to waste time on mediocre books.  The first chapter is quite spooky, then we catch up with the heroine, Evie as she is banished from  her small Ohio town to New York, which does not seem at all like a punishment.  Evie is a pistol that fits right into the fast-talking New York scene and I'm very excited to see what she'll do next.

Yes, I've folded.  I'm starting another series.  I'll be on pins and needles until the second book next year, but a good story makes it all worth it.

If you're intrigued by The Diviners, check out the free Kindle preview from Amazon.  Remember, you've been warned how hopelessly addictive it is, so don't come crying to me when you've bought the book and read it in one sitting!

Happy Reading!

Note:  I'm not in any way, shape, or form benefiting from advertising this free preview.  I just think it's going to be a huge series, and great book.  I'm just spreading the word!

  1. Hey! I read a chapter of Dead End in Norvelt to the kids one day. It seems like a pretty good book, so I better get a post about it.

Oh, and The Diviners looks cool too.
